graphic from IEEE site <www.ieee.org>                            As a student member of the IEEE you receive a number of benefits.  These include automatic subscription to "IEEE Spectrum" magazine, "The   Institute" and local branch newsletters, substantial discounts on other   IEEE society and publication subscriptions, huge discounts on conference registration fees and recognition as being part of the professional body  supporting your vocation. We can attract some funding from the IEEE to support local activities such as BBQs and other social events, visiting  speakers, site visits to engineering firms, establishment of a library (we plan a technical reference library on CD-ROM) etc. Each university  can have its own branch. There is no joining fee for the student branch.
