IEEE India Council was established
on 20th May 1976 and is one of the three councils in the Asia Pacific Region(10). Its
primary aim is to assist and coordinate the activities of local Sections, in order to
benefit mutually, and avoid duplication of effort and resources.
Apart from the 10 Sections , there are 111 student branches
located in all major Universities and Engineering Colleges all over India. So, no matter
where you are located in India, there is an IEEE group close to you (and more will come up
soon).
All members of IEEE, resident in India, are automatically members
of the India Council. At present, there are over 6,000 members (including Student Members)
in India.
