The IEEE VESIT Student Branch, conducted a host of activities
for the student members this year. A recapitulation of the activities conducted during the
year yields:
- Article Writing Contests March 1999.
- Two Technical Paper Presentation Contests - August and October 1999
- Programming Contest - September 1999
- Web Page Design contest February 1999.
- Branch Project on "Collision Avoidance for an Autonomous Rover" January
1999.
- Technical Quiz Contest, conducted as part of the IEEE Week ( Refer Annexure 2
a)
- One of the more regular activities of the branch is getting student members to write
technical articles for the Branch newsletter called "Innovation".
Of these activities, the reports on the two Technical Paper
Presentation Contests (August and October 1999) and the Programming Contest (September
1999) have already been submitted along with the annual plan for 1998 99.
A REPORT ON THE WEB PAGE DESIGN CONTEST
A Web Page design contest was conducted and this contest was extended
over the months of January and February 1999. The students were told to design web pages
to host the IEEE - VESIT Student Branch Website, and the rules for the contest conformed
to those set by Region 10 for their Web Page design contests. A total of 6 entries were
received, of which the two winning entries were as follows:
- Saumitra Mohan Das, Third Year, Dept. of Electronic Engineering.
- Alok Agrawal, and Yash Bajpai, Third Year, Dept. of Electronic Engineering.
We plan to enter these two entries for the IEEE Region 10 WWW Web Page
Contest.
A REPORT ON THE ARTICLE WRITING CONTEST
An article writing contest was conducted in the month of March 1999.
The main purpose of this contest is to select and obtain the best entries for the Branch
newsletter "Innovation."
